Trigger points, also known as muscle knots or myofascial trigger points, are highly sensitive and tender areas found in muscles or the surrounding connective tissue. These points are characterized by localized areas of tightness and can be felt as small nodules or lumps in the muscle.
Trigger points are often painful and can cause referred pain, meaning the discomfort may be felt in areas distant from the actual point of tension.
Massage therapy plays a crucial role in identifying and addressing trigger points. Skilled massage therapists can palpate the body, feeling for areas of increased tension and tenderness. Once a trigger point is detected, the therapist applies specific techniques to release and relax the affected muscle fibers. On completion of our Trigger Points Pressure Release Techniques Massage Course, you should be equipped with the knowledge to be able to apply this technique to assist clients in alleviating such kinds of problems.
